Hello! My name is Callista Mason and I am a social worker and educator working in the field of human services in various capacities since 2007. I am a Master's level Registered Social Worker. I completed both my BSW and MSW degrees with the University of Calgary and was the proud recipient of the Gayle Gilchrist James and Richard F. Ramsay Gold Medal in Social Work in 2013. I am passionate about supporting people on their journey to healing and personal fulfillment in various capacities including individual & couples counselling, group therapy and community development.
I aim to build a genuine and compassionate professional relationship with you as we work towards your well-being. I believe that no two people are the same and therefore draw on strategies from various therapeutic approaches to meet your needs. I take a humanistic and anti-oppressive approach to counselling, combining knowledge from person centered, experiential, and somatic therapies, as well as other models. I aim to be relationally focused, trauma and structurally informed, and deeply curious and authentic with my clients. I am also passionate about art-making as a process for personal and broader social change and infuse this knowledge base in my work.
In terms of who I am as a human, I am a white, hetero, cis woman, currently able-bodied and middle classed. I acknowledge the privileges that are inherent in my intersectional identity, and remain mindful of the ways my lived experiences have shaped my worldview.
I am also a dancer, novel reader, tv/movie lover, hiker, and cross country skiier. I enjoy getting into nature as often as possible, having kitchen dance parties, and swimming in almost any body of water! I look forward to getting to know you :)
